Directions to Lake Pillsbury
Okay all you techy people who will use your smart devices for directions to Lake Pillsbury, or if it has been 40 years since your last visit and all you remember is a long dirt road and a river, don’t take the old “logging road”! PLEASE check your route and take the “County Road” 240/301 Elk Mountain Rd (FYI: you will lose cell service in Potter Valley). Be sure to go over the Eel River bridge first and then turn right onto the dirt road. The river will be on your right side for the first few miles in. About 50% of the mapping apps direct you onto the old “logging road” M6/Forest Rte 20N01 with the Eel River on your left. It is open and will get you here, but in bad condition and not good for trailers or RVs, or anyone who isn’t into off-roading. From Potter Valley to Lake Pillsbury it is about an hour as shown on this snapshot from Google Maps. The County Road will drop you back onto pavement at the Soda Creek Store in the Lake Pillsbury Basin. Once there, turn right to Lake Pillsbury Resort or left to the other 5 USFS campgrounds.
